Watch: How to Measure Your Pooch

How to Measure Your Dog

You'll need a soft fabric tape measure (or a piece of string and a ruler). Have a treat ready — moral support is essential.

  • Neck Girth (A): Measure around the base of your dog's neck, where a collar sits. Keep it snug but comfortable — you should be able to slip two fingers underneath.
  • Back Length (B): Measure from the base of the neck to the start of the tail, with your dog standing still and the tape flat along their back.
  • Chest Girth (C): Measure around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs. Again, snug but not tight.

Tip: If your dog is between sizes, size up for comfort — especially for chunky or deep-chested breeds!
